CATIE Center Renews Financial Support for MHIT Participants

St. Catherine University’s CATIE Center in St. Paul, MN, has been awarded a grant to
increase the number of interpreters working in behavioral health settings and is collaborating with MHIT by supporting attendees from underrepresented groups.  For more information, click HERE


The 18th Annual Interpreter Institute will run August 3-7, 2020, in Montgomery, Alabama.  As in years past, the Institute will be held at Troy University in Montgomery.

We are please to announce that an alumni track has been added specifically for people who have previously attended an institute and want to come back and learn more.

Pre-registration is required. 
The faculty includes some of the Core Faculty - who will teach additional courses - and also some great presenters who are coming in especially for this track.  

Note: This year, attendees have the option to take Youth Mental Health First Aid (Requires a separate apllication and fee) and Crisis Intervention Prevention and receive certification in those areas. Download the Mental Health First Aid Application HERE.

Any alumni from any class my attend the alumni track, which has a seperate registration from the main Institute.

QMHI Weekly Rate: $75
QMHI – S Weekly Rate: Waived

2020 MHIT  Core Track attendees who are alumni are not required to register seperately for the alumni sessions. 

Continuing education offered for Counselors, Social Workers, Psychologists, and Interpreters.

The Mental Health Interpreter Training Program is currently seeking enthusiastic, hard-working, motivated, professional and flexible student volunteers to work during the 2020 Conference. 

Only six student representatives are accepted annually.

Support Staff/Student Representative Applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Be enrolled in an Interpreter Training Program during the 2019-2020 academic year.

Consideration may also be given to applicants who have past experience as Support Staff/Student Representative for a state, regional, or national conference within the last two years.
All accepted Support Staff/Student Representatives will receive the following:
  • Complimentary conference registration and workshops activities
  • Certificate of attendance and opportunity to earn CEUs for all activities
  • A certificate of appreciation

Assemble electronic/scanned copies of the following:
  • Proof of enrollment in an ITP/IPP program for the 2019-2020 academic year or graduated within the past six (6) months (schedule, transcript, etc.)
  • Letter of recommendation sent electronically from a faculty member in your ITP/IPP.
  • Completed application
  • Any additional documentation you wish to submit.

Please put all your electronic and/or scanned files into a single email, and send it to us as part of this application form.

Applications must be submitted by midnight, March 15, 2020, to be considered.  All portions of the application must be completed and all supporting documentation included. Incomplete applications or applications missing any supporting documentation will not be accepted.  Any application submitted after March 15, 2020  will not be considered for MHIT 2020.

Payment Information

When we receive your application, it will be reviewed.  If you are accepted into the training, we will invoice you.  You will not need to pay until you have been officially accepted.  You may pay by check or PayPal, which allows you to use your credit card. Please note that the rate you pay will be based on the date we receive your application provided it is received within 30 days of notification of acceptance and invoicing. If payment is not made within 30 days, your application is subject to removal from the participant list.  

If you are placed on the wait list, you will be informed and invoiced only if there is an opening and you accept it.
